Why is camping so fun?

Friday, January 27, 2012

Why is camping so important? Camping is so important because not only does it involve walking around seeing nature but it also allows you to be able to walk along the lakes, streams, ponds, etc. and see all that God has given to us such as ferns, pond plants and wildlife.

I learned at an early age how to properly build a campfire. Many people believe that building a campfire is gathering wood, light a match and enjoy the heat. This is far from the truth! As you know, safety always comes first. The first thing you need to do is make sure that there is no burning ban in effect. If there is a burning law ban in effect, you need to find out when the ban is lifted. If there is no burning ban the next thing you need to do is check your area for any obstacles that may hamper your campfire. After you do this, you need to clear out a spot for your campfire. In doing this, you need to make sure your campfire is a safe distance from any and all flammable materials. After you have decided on a safe spot to build your fire, start building your pit. Your campfire pit should consist of rocks in a circle to ensure that your fire stays contained inside it. It should be at least 8 inches deep to ensure a safe burn. After you build the pit, you are free to find your burning material. Burning material should be any dry wood you have or can find. Starting with a dry kindling is the best way to start the fire. After you get a good fire flow going you can add bigger wood to the fire.
