Buy the Ostrich fern at DNT nursery. This fern is a crown-forming, colony forming type of fern that grows natuarally in America. This fern grows naturallyin very moist areas favoring the riverbanks and  the sandbars. It thus can form very dense fern colonies rvery esistant to destruction by rsing floodwaters .The ferns also have  the deciduous green sterile fern fronds being almost vertical, 100-170 cm tall and 20-35 cm broad, long-tapering to the base of the fern but short-tapering to the tip of the frond, so that they look like ostrich plumes, hence the name of the plant. The fertile fern fronds are shorter, 40-60 cm long, and turn brown when ripe, with highly modified and constricted frond leaf tissue curled over the sporangia; they develop in the month of autumn, persist erect over the entire winter and release the ferns spores in early spring.
