Bugleweed is a perennial flower which means it will not grow any flowers on the first year if planted as a seed but will return the favor and sprout flower more than one year unlike the annual flowers. The name comes from the shape of the leaves that extend from the stem of the flower. The bugleweed is also a very easy to maintain plant. It grows in almost all areas, such as drained soil, in the full sun, partial sun coverage, and in areas where it snows quite frequently they are known as “evergreen”. Bugleweed need to be placed about 8-10 inches apart because the flower will cover the area in between the plants when fully grown. The bugleweed comes in two different species known as: Ajuga Pyramidalis which is a blue flower with a 6 inch stem, and Metallica Crispa which is a purple-brownish flower with a crisp edge.
